I love visiting schools, bookstores, and libraries!

Being a former elementary school teacher, I understand the importance of making my visits fun, interactive and multi-sensory. Any of the following programs can be tailored to meet your needs. If desired, extra time for book signing is included with all sessions.

Small Group Sessions (20-60 students)

Vroom, Vroom, Beep, Beep, Go!

  • Pre-K and Kindergarten
  • Total Time: 30-40 minutes
  • Books, Songs, and props--this multimedia presentation gets those squirmy, little bodies moving and active minds excited about reading.

Writers' Blocks

  • Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
  • Total Time: 45 minutes - 1 hour
  • Every writer needs the right building blocks to construct a story. Visual and hands-on explorations of what gives a story a strong foundation (basic elements such as beginning, middle and ending) and the artistic touches (voice, word choice, etc.) that give it style!

Chiseling Out 3-D Characters and Vivid Settings

  • 3rd grade and up
  • Total Time: 45 minutes - 1 hour
  • Flat characters and vague settings can suck the life out of any story. In this workshop I teach techniques for carving out characters who leap off pages, and demonstrate ways the 5 senses can be employed to create vivid settings. Warning: there will be chocolate!

Assemblies (Audiences of any size)

Story Spark to Book

  • Appropriate for all ages
  • Total Time: 45 minutes - 1 hour
  • A behind-the-scenes peek at the process of turning a story idea into a book, and glimpses of my not-so-glamorous life as an author. Lower grade assemblies will focus on the journey of a picture book. Upper grade assemblies will be led through the step- by-step process of creating a novel.

Virtual Visits

I'm happy to offer a complimentary 20 minute Q&A virtual visit for school or library groups who have read at least one of my books.
