Being a former elementary school teacher, I understand the importance of making my visits fun, interactive, and multisensory. And I love to do them! Any of the following programs can be tailored to meet the needs of your school or library.

Small Group Sessions (20-60 students)
Vroom, Vroom, Beep, Beep, Go! (Pre-K and Kindergarten)
Books, songs, and props—this multimedia presentation gets those squirmy, little bodies moving, and active minds excited about reading!
 Total Time: 30-40 minutes
Writers’ Blocks (Kindergarten - 2nd Grade)
Every writer needs the right building blocks to construct a story.  Visual and hands-on exploration of what gives a story a strong foundation (basic elements such as beginning, middle and ending) and the artistic touches (voice, word choice, etc.) that give it style!
Total Time: 45 min – 1 hour
Chiseling Out 3-D Characters and Vivid Settings (3rd Grade and Up)
Flat characters and vague settings can suck the life out of any story.  After a short reading from one of my books, I’ll present techniques for carving out characters that leap off pages, and ways to elicit vivid worlds by drawing on the use of the 5 senses. Warning: there will be chocolate!
Total Time: 45 mins-1 hour

Assemblies (100+ Students)
Story Spark to Book (All ages)
Presentations for larger audiences include a behind-the-scenes peek at the process of turning a story idea into a book, and a glimpse of what it’s like to be an author. Lower grade assemblies will focus on the journey of a picture book, and upper grade assemblies will examine the process of creating a novel. These presentations are suitable for smaller audiences, as well.
Total Time: 45 mins-1 hour
All presentations include a short Q&A session and book signing (if desired).

Virtual Visits
I am happy to offer a complimentary 20 minute Skype Q&A for school or library groups who have read at least one of my books.
